i remembered during my poly days, one of my lecturers made us wrote an obituary for ourselves and stuck it on our seats and afterwards everyone walked around the room to look at each other's obituaries.

it was like a living funeral.

it wasn't creepy or anything like that, it was an excersise to sit down and reflect what do you want people to remember you as when you die.

i remember i wrote 'fillial daughter, best friend, great teacher, dancer' among some more stuff.

well... till date, i dun have any answers for any of that.

as a daughter i think i would get a E8, friend, probably a C6, teacher maybe a D7 now. ( used to be better, =< cannot denied that i lost the passion as time goes by with all the arrows and gunshots i recieved) dancer, probably a F9.

i judge myself too harshly? I'm not failing myself, i'm just not up to standard YET.

and among all other roles, sister, aunt, definately F9. probably ungraded.

i should re-do my obituary again.

guess nothing beats my own name then. haha.
i'm proud of who I am, we travelled in the journey call life, and everything made us who we are today.

just wanna talk abt my name today. why the choice of eileen, hmmm.... becoz my first teach whom taught me was eileen. haha. she took me for P1 and 2. I just thought I wanted to be a teacher when i grow up.

i also cannot remember why i like her, 20 over years already, ah... time flies...

oh well, yup, that's the reason why i chose this name. =)

Totally neglected this blog. simply becoz my CNY was too awesome. and this equals to me gaining weight. =< that's horrible.

a couple of things happened since the last time i updated.

and apologies if you came here looking for ahgirl comics/pictures. I am really too up to my forehead in work and assignment.

In fact, i'm thinking should i rename this blog? maybe. once i think of a name that better reflect me. haha...

anyways, there is a small piece of good news, i got a raise, but i blew it on sponsering a kid, term insurance and savings insurance and study loan. haha. Hope this savings goes a long way for me to start my own business or invest in a property in the future. ( if we are still alive, haha)

got mildly irritated by my boss today, which inspired me to complain abt it here. lol. too strict cannot, relax also cannot. cmi... ARGH! maybe due to the raise she expect more from me. wth... zzzzz *deep breath* i dun give a damn. =p

btw, what do you guys think abt this?

哈哈，知道有一点慢了，可是一直没有时间看这部戏，终于今天有一点时间可以用海盗的方式看。 =X

看了之后，让我想到了中学的时候，真的是有一点后悔没有做一下坏学生。哈哈。可能我做的最坏的事就是抄功课吧。。。回想起来，我还真的满乖的。。。

在中一的时候，也有一个经常和我斗嘴的人，不同的是，他是会读书的那个。我是那个一直睡觉的。。。哈哈。。现在想起来，还觉得那个时候还满好玩的。。

之后呢，当然就不同班了，可是在新的班上也有很多好朋友，有一班一起唱歌的，一起打羽毛球的朋友，中三和中四应该是最好玩的时候。有出丑，有暧昧，有喜，有苦，有欢乐，有悲伤。

虽然人生有很多事是徒劳无功的，但很多事在于旅程经历的故事和体验，而不是终点。

人生也会有很多遗憾，就把这些曲折当成故事的小插曲，也应为这样，人生也精彩一些，

感情最美好的时候就是暧昧的时候，不是吗？

只要回想起来还会慧心一笑，就是好的回忆了。=）

going thru this episode of saga of annoucing new that was not solid gave me some lessons.
firstly: it's the old saying do not count ur chickens before they hatch.
so obviously i broke the eggs. haha.

secondly: you know who are truely on your side. and how many people actually loved me for who I am. Many times, they are people who are glad u are climbing and there are people who are waiting to see you fall. and it's only in times like this, you are able to tell who is true to you and who is not. i have more than a handful of people who have given me their blessings and i'm very grateful for that, even parents of my ex-students. i am even more touched by that. to know that i hve reached beyond my students. and actually am someone who they are still concerned about even as their child had withdraw and i had left the place.

thirdly: I know i am qualified enought to get people to consider having me as a principal. but at the same time, i'm not fake enough to use watever means to get that position. I have teahcer friends who wanted to come to me when they heard i was going to be a P. I'm already touched enough. and the teacher who was crestfallen to hear that I am not to be already. it shows something la.. after being in this line for so long.

fourthly: I do not fit into this BIG company culture. guess the only option i have is to be my own boss. as 'morrie' would say, If the culture dun fit u, dun buy it. create your own culture.

5th: being down to earth, it has taken a whole new level of meaning to me. what's the point of letting your feet leave ground when u are up there for people to judge and any false moves will land u back on the ground in bruises or broken bones. let's stay on ground and party with the real people. =)

There's this I love Ice cream going on at Clark Quay yday and today. There's interesting ice cream flavours. haa.. gotta dig the bah kwa ice cream. Real bah kwa bits in it! there's also tom yam, curry and many weird flavours.. Go on down and try them!

Ever looked at another person's shoes and wondered what kind of person they are?

yes, it could mean what place they are going to next.

I think shoes do tell a great deal about the person's character, usually the impluse buys are clothes, but shoes go thru a certain selection process. comfort. design. price. to match the clothes that is already at home. the places you usually go. no matter how cheap a pair shoes is, unless you can find some use for it, one would not usually buy it.

and if you do not feel comfortable wearing, even if you like the design, most probably you wun get it either.

If we could just put ourslves in the shoes of others and be less critical about each other.

well. I am attempting to write an article about the education system in Singapore, being inspired by the previous article, 'http://www.sodahead.com/united-states/what-teachers-really-want-to-tell-parents/question-2143853/' I agreed with this article's contents and come to a conclusion that educators worldwide are facing the same issues.

However, I feel that being here in Singapore we have slightly more issues because we are 'educated' intellectually but not morally anymore. We have scholars who break bonds simply because they are unable to take the pressure of the real world and parents who simply shield their children from all evils or repercussions. If money is able to settle the problems, parents will simply use money to solve it. If money is unable to solve, they are educated enough to write to related officals/ media to blow up matters and demand actions.

Why are we giving in to such tyrannical demands? Yes, we are providing a service but we do not owe you a living. You send your children to recieve education and care, but how much do you really know about the spectrum behind the words 'education and care'? If it's really so easy these days to take care of children, why do some parents dread weekends? I had a parent telling me that when I knock off , it's her turn to start work.

Education. What is in this word? It's not only about ABCs and 123, it's about teaching the children social norms. How to be socially acceptable, to share, take turns, manners, toilet-training, problem solve among themselves, be responsible for the own belongings and even lining up. Children are not born with these skills innate in them. Yes, it is our job to teach them all these but remember, you are your children's first teachers before they come to us, if you have not expose them to such social norms, don't expect them to be 'naturally' acceptable to peers and adults. When teachers feedback about children's behaviour being 'disruptive', parents are likely to get defensive and push the blame on the other child that was involve in the conflict.

Trust.When a teacher really decide to brave fire and tell the truth about your child, parents should be grateful. It shows that the teacher is geniunely concern and want to help your child, it's much easier to tell you that your child is an angel and not correct their behaviour then it is to try to gain support from you. Using the logical side of your mind to think, why would anyone want to get into trouble by telling you lies about your child? If you ask your child, of course your child would tell the story to his/her benefit. We also know you would listen to your child more then us, so why would we want to sabotage ourselves?

Discipline. What kind of discipline is allowed now? There are a million 'no's and yet we are handling at least 8 - 25 children daily. We are only human, sometimes we do raise our voices and it's only because we care about the children's education and well-being. In times when the noise levels are high, we need to speak louder, ask the children to keep quiet. Sometimes we need to be stern to reinforce rules in school. I get feedback saying that their child is sensitive and feels hurt/scare to come to school. If even raising voice in appropriate circumstances is not allowed, we can just let the children run amok and then it will lead to another kind of complaint.

Teachers don't care.

Everyone started teaching caring too much, as time pass by and the amount of 'gunshots' we recieved start to make us jaded. People who allowed children to do as they wish gets 'appreciation' whereas teachers who care and voiced out concerns are 'lousy' teachers. Remember, it's always much easier to go with the flow then against.

Why is it the pre-school fault when children are not coping in primary schools? Couldn't it be the other way round that primary schools expectations are too high? Why is it that we are caught trying to keep up with the escalating standards of education? What is the basic that children are expected to know now? Primary One used to be starting with zero knowledge but now, they have to be able to write, read, add, subtract and some even multiply.

Care. It means the physcial and emotional well-being of the children. How many children we have = to how many different backgrounds, cultures, restrictions we have to cater to for every individual child. Especially in these times when family dynamics can be very different, not everyone have 2 parents, some more and some less.

If all accidents are preventable, we would of course. Who would want to deal with explaining the incidents and taking the blows from the parents? If mosqitoes are controllable, we would invite the mosqitoes for a chat and ask them to leave your children alone. But guess what? We ARE living the the tropics and mosqitoes are part of the ecosystem and I think the mosqitoes are smart these days because parents like to say ' from school one'. I didn't know that mosqitoes are able to sign off.

Recognition. Given the pressure we are under from all aspects, we are not given the respect and recognition we deserved. We are constantly being lashed out at by all aspects, with unspeakable amount of workload being thrown upon us and the lack of support from them. It is no surprise that people who do have the passion and qualifications in this line eventually leave the industry and one can only salute those who are staying on despite all odds.

Think about it, from our perspective.

yes, started driving lessons awhile ago. the first lesson was not bad... mostly at 20km/hr... and car died only once. i was really proud of myself.

2nd lesson was terrible tho, the car kept dying at the red lights, haha.. being a first aider at this point of time is useless. the car just kept repeatedly dying. lol~

felt pretty demoralised.

It's OVER!

the slience after the party is deafening. but it was a damn good show. totally love it! dunno wat's got into me pre recital. but i think it was better den me getting annoyed with people. at least i was annoyed with myself. haha. Pre-recital does alot fo funny things to people. you get pissed off easily. u get sleepless nights.. u jump when you hear ur music on the radio, u start thinking of all the pitfalls. u feel insecure, maybe not everyone feel that way, but, at least that how it works for me. i'm too scary even for myself. lol.

i was in fact still beating myself silly just before recital day. still feeling lousy and.. just blue la... my instructor clare was still telling me i'm not open enough in my dance. as in i am still very reserved. it made me wanna cry. dancing is all i ever wanted and i know a shy dancer wun get anywhere. and i know my body language shows i'm a shy dancer, which i am. shit. it left me battered for a few days.. this kind of bruising is worse den physical... i love clare and i know that she want me to improve. sometimes, the truth still hurts. i think truth hurts basically.

When it hurts, the only way to get over it, is to get thru it. continue doing watever needs to be done and give more. pile on the make up, smile. dance till ur feet get blisters and the blisters dry up and ur skin fall off. dance till every ounce of your muscle ache and just keep going. it will pay off.

show day was fab! everyone was nervous, but everyone gave their all. the energy was high up. and during pat's item it was really awesome. to hear the cheers from the crowd. and i heard my principal screaming my name! totally turn me on! =) it was really damn good! the feeling was the best as compared to last 2 yrs..

during girl's hip hop, i was front left for a good amount of time, and dancing first line was like so scary, i cannot see the rest of my dance peers.. haha... scary but shiok! and the audience was soooo near!! omg~~ and the energy was damn high. by the end of it, there was a signigicant uproar from the crowd! THE FEELING WAS SHIOK-NESS siaz!!

And the most happiest part was i was to give flowers to my fav. clare at the end of it! and I it was soo awesome! first time giving flowers and to my most fav. instructor some more! HONOURED MAX!

something differnt this year happen to me internally is.. i wanna go for more classes instead of taking a break. i wanna get better, stronger,

if i could dance forever, i dun mind living with my baby face. =D hahahaa!!

Taiwan 2010 summary

Just realized i did not do a proper entry on Taiwan. which was awesome with incredible people.

it started off with claire wanting to go taiwan and recce for her family and just spontanously we decided to tag along and it turned into a 'dance trip" i wasn't involved in the planning as i was too caught up in everything else. and i'm seriously ok with anything. so the girls made the effort to find the dance schools and accomdation + flight.

and so, we left for taiwan in the wee hours of the morning and arrive in taiwan like 12-ish? we threw our bags in the hotel and went to lunch first. went to 'Modern toilet', the decor was cool and the toilet was pretty cool. the basin is also a toilet bowl. haha.. after lunch, we rest in and changed into dance clothes and went to Dancesoul for our class. dance for 2 hrs and walk to Taipei101, but didn't go up since it was raining and i dun think we can see anything la.. and expensive also. head back to hotel and rest.

day 2, we went to wu fen pu early. guess wat, not opened yet. head to 'cheng pin bookstore' and bought alot of notebooks. haha.. went back to wu fen pu and basically went CRAZY shopping. bulk of our $$ were lost there. lol~ bought so much we had to head back to hotel to drop it first before going to merry moarch for dance. had a 2 hrs waacking. nearly died but rewarded ourselves with ding tai feng, they have ding tai feng svieniours there also.. haha.. cute. but ex. still i bought some stuff la. haha.. ok.. abit of stuff.

Day 3 we went to dan shui, and fisherman wharf... cam whore, tried smelly beancurd. EE!! will never eat it again after reading the newspaper when i got back. *puke* after dan shui, went to shilin. it was so mad crowded, all 4 of us couldn't take it. and decided to cab back to hotel again.

Day 4, we slack. went back to wu fen pu, and shopped. supposed to go for dance class. but we are so mad tired. so we decided to skip class. LOL! and went to eat jacky wu's dessert.. also walk ard zhong xiao dong lu. trying to find jay's shop. but nothing there.. weird.

Day 5, packed and killed time at the partyworld, collect mochi, and came back home.
in between of coz lots od video-ing lame jokes, and everything. the company i had was so wonderful, that words do no justice to them.

really really love my dance pals =)

it was a really fuss free trip with no annoying things happening. i'm totally lucky to have them as friends! =DDDD

anyway, went back to maison hairmake to cut my hair today.. hehe.. love it now.. coz it's been washed and blown. the real picture will come when i wash it and my usual way of letting it dry naturally will show the real result of me cutting short hair. hahaaa...

thus, bought a tuner and guitar picks..

was practising a while before the lazy bug in me started again. haa...

oh wells.... it does seem s little easier compared to when i first pick it up 6 yrs ago..

shall persevere and continue till at least i can play a full song. or nursery ryhme. haha.

Went to TAB at Orchard Hotel tonight for David Choi's Gig, it was AWESOME!!

He's soo cute and funny in his own ways.. *loves*

Blueapple09 and sr accompany me there and blueapple09 and me were like going GAGA over him.. hahahaa!!

Will be going to catch him again this friday for autograph session, coz blueapple09 din even bother to help me take my CD there tonight la. ROARS

yup, David did autograph and phototaking after his gig, no wonder he was so tired last night. hehe!
